a proper website, without the proper big invoice.
from £999 to start, then from £99/month.
the long game: the full bespoke build. looked after, every month.

you're ready for a proper website. your bank balance has other ideas.
we hear the same thing most weeks. the site is embarrassing, it’s costing you work, you know it needs doing properly. and then the estimate lands and the timing is wrong.
so the decision gets kicked down the road. another six months of a site that quietly loses you enquiries, because a good one felt like something to do later.
we’ve watched enough businesses do that to know it’s the expensive option. the website isn’t the cost. the one you’ve got is the cost.
so we changed the shape of the deal, not the quality of the work. a smaller fee to get started, then a monthly plan that covers hosting, security, maintenance and the ongoing work that keeps a site earning. same build. same 18+ years behind it. a start you can actually say yes to this month.
the same website. a different way in.
sites start at five pages and go as big as you need. a tidy five-pager for a local firm, or thirty pages with case studies and a resource library. same care either way, and the start fee moves with the size.
a fully bespoke website
designed around your business, not dragged out of a template. mobile-first, fast, and built so every page has a job to do.
SEO foundations baked in
clean URLs, proper heading structure, schema markup, meta tags, page speed. built in by default, not sold back to you later.
content sorted
we write the copy and structure the pages. you talk, we turn it into words that sound like you on a good day.
analytics from day one
GA4 and search console set up before you launch, so you can see what's actually bringing in enquiries.
looked after, month after month
hosting, SSL, backups, security monitoring, software updates. the boring stuff that stops a good site quietly rotting.
a human who answers
not a ticket queue. stephen. the person who built it.
four steps, no surprises
1. tell us about the project (free, 20 minutes)
a quick call or a short form. what you do, who you want more of, what the current site is doing wrong. we come back with an honest estimate and tell you straight whether paying monthly or paying upfront makes more sense for you.
2. agree the plan and get started
fixed scope, fixed start fee, and you pick the monthly plan that matches what you need after launch. direct debit set up, then we get going.
3. we build it properly
discovery, strategy, content, design, development, testing, launch. the full six-step process, same as every other site we build. typically 6 to 10 weeks.
4. we keep it working
hosting, security, updates and support, every month. move up a plan when you’re ready for more. your job is running the business.
from £999 to start, then pick your plan
the start fee covers discovery, strategy, copywriting, design, build, testing and launch. it starts at £999 for a straightforward site and scales with the size of the project. you’ll know the exact figure before you commit to anything.
| your site | start fee |
|---|---|
| five to six pages | £999 |
| seven pages and up | £1,250 |
| ecommerce, booking or membership | quoted on the call |
the monthly plan covers everything that happens after launch. three options, so you're only paying for what you actually need.

24-month minimum on the monthly plan, then it rolls month to month. move up a plan whenever you like. after your first year you can move down a level too, with 30 days’ notice. no exit fees once the minimum term is done.
is this cheaper? no. and we're not going to pretend otherwise.
over two years, starting at £999 and paying £175 a month works out around £300 more than paying for the site upfront and adding a support plan. that’s roughly what a business credit card would cost you, and it’s the price of not having to find thousands in one go.
so here’s our advice, which is not in our interest to give: if you can comfortably pay upfront, pay upfront. we’ll build you exactly the same website on our normal web design terms and you’ll spend less.
this is for the businesses where that isn’t the reality right now. and if that’s you, it’s a far better answer than another two years of a website that’s letting you down.
the one exception: on the growth plan you come out ahead. bundling the SEO in knocks £50 a month off our standalone rate, which over the minimum term is about £1,200 back in your pocket compared to buying the two separately.
two ways to get a website from us. same website, either way.

same website. same process. same person building it. the only real question is which way of paying suits your business right now.
made for businesses with more ambition than spare cash
this is for you if:
- you’re a service business, local firm or practice that lives on enquiries and reputation.
- your website is genuinely holding you back and you’re past pretending otherwise.
- you want it done properly, not patched, but a four-figure invoice this quarter isn’t happening.
- you’d rather have someone looking after it every month than own another thing you have to remember to maintain.
- you’re planning to still be trading in two years, and you’re comfortable committing for that long.
it’s probably not for you if you can pay upfront without wincing (that’s web design, and it’ll cost you less), you need it live inside a fortnight, or you can’t commit to 24 months. no hard feelings either way, and we’ll say so on the call rather than sell you the wrong thing.
keeping the momentum after launch
a website isn’t ‘done’ on launch day. search changes. competitors update their sites. your business evolves. a website that stands still starts to fall behind.
our ongoing support plans (from £90/month) keep your site fast, secure, and up to date. for clients who want more – visibility growth, content, and a genuine long-term digital partnership – our done-for-you digital partner service is built exactly for that.
most clients who come to us for a website end up staying for the long run. not because we lock them in, but because having someone who genuinely knows their site looking after it is one less thing to worry about.
“Despite the fact I have completely neglected the website it still produces a huge number of leads. So you can pat yourself on the back for making such a good site.”
Peter Howe
Trafford Fireplaces, Carlisle

“Stephen at Compute did everything that was expected and delivered the work on time and on budget. I’m very happy with the results and wouldn’t hesitate to use Compute for further projects.”
Ian Gilbertson

“The website is looking so good – thanks for all your hard work!”

we’ve been building websites for cumbrian businesses since 2008. some of our clients are on their third or fourth site with us. we’re not going anywhere, which matters rather a lot when you’re signing up for two years.
questions about web design
I only need five pages. is this still for me?
yes. five pages is where it starts, and plenty of good businesses never need more than that. a home page, what you do, who you are, proof you’re worth calling, and a way to get in touch. built properly, that’s enough.
do I own the website?
yes. the design and the content are yours. stay with us and we host it and look after it. if you move on after the minimum term, we’ll help you take it with you. no hostage situations, no holding your domain to ransom.
why is there a 24-month minimum?
because we’re doing the full build for a fraction of the usual start fee, and the monthly plan is what makes that work for us. two years is how long it takes to be fair on both sides. after that it rolls monthly and you can leave whenever with 30 days’ notice.
what if I need to leave early?
talk to us first, because there’s usually a better answer. if you do need out, there’s an early termination charge covering the remaining months of the minimum term. it’s written into the agreement in plain english before you sign, so you’ll never be surprised by it.
can I change plan later?
move up whenever you want, it takes effect the following month. after your first 12 months you can move down a level too, with 30 days’ notice. plenty of clients start on care and move to growth once the site is settled and they want the enquiries to grow.
what counts as an included content change?
the everyday stuff. text edits, swapping images, updating prices or opening hours, adding a testimonial or a team member. a whole new page or a redesign gets quoted separately, and fairly. we’ll always tell you before we do anything chargeable.
is the website any different from your normal builds?
no. same process, same six steps, same standards, same person building it. the only thing that changes is how you pay for it.
how long does it take?
usually 6 to 10 weeks from the first call to going live. it depends mostly on how quickly we get content and feedback from you. we agree the schedule upfront.
what happens at the end of the 24 months?
it carries on month to month at the same rate, and you can stop any time with 30 days’ notice. most people stay, because the site keeps earning and the support keeps supporting.
do you do ecommerce or booking systems?
yes, though they take longer to build so the start fee is higher. tell us what you need on the call and we’ll price it honestly.
the website isn't the expensive bit. another two years of the current one is.
tell us about your business, we’ll come back with an honest estimate and an honest opinion about which way of paying suits you. worst case, you get some free advice and a clearer head.
no pressure, no pitch deck, no follow-up sequence you have to unsubscribe from.
